Fife Leisure Activities and Places To Visit - St Andrews Cottages Walled Garden of Strathtyrum Estate

Relaxation

Just off the main drive leading to Strathtyrum House, the walled garden is available for the use of all guests on the Estate.

The walled garden is next door to The Farmhouse and only a short walk from the other properties, Lower Balgove and Edenview cottages.

Golfing Holidays

On the outskirts of St Andrews, the cottages are ideal for golfing holidays and short breaks, or for watching the professional golfers in major competitions.

Even when the Open Championship is not being held in St Andrews, many of the other famous venues are within a short drive.

Canoustie, where the 2007 Open Championship is being held, is about 20 miles north of the Strathtyrum Estate, and can be reached by car via Dundee in less than 45 minutes.

If playing golf rather than watching is your interest, many of Fife's courses are open to visitors, with help and advice available from the managers of Strathtyrum Estate Rental Properties.

Other Local Leisure Activities

Other activities available in the local area include swimming, playing tennis, walking, hiking, and cycling.

As this is a coastal area, watersports such as sailing and windsurfing are of course available in a number of places.

West Sands

The filming of the famous beach scenes from the film 'Chariots Of Fire' was completed at West Sands, St Andrews.

A plaque commemorating this association can be found on the beach, which is just beyond the Old Course, and only 10-15 minutes walk from the Strathtyrum Estate.
